By Francisco Salazar

Martin Rajna has been named co-artistic director, alongside Adam Fischer, of the Wagner Days festival at Müpa Budapest.

He will take up the position at the beginning of 2026.

The 2026 season will mark the 20th anniversary of the Budapest Wagner Days festival and the 150th anniversary of the première of the Ring of the Nibelung tetralogy. Müpa plans to make the special occasion an unforgettable one with a double Ring cycle, two performances of “Parsifal,” and a song recital by Camilla Nylund and Helmut Deutsch.

Rajna is the principal conductor of the Hungarian State Opera and the chief music director of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra since September 2026. Rajna has performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Luxembourg Philharmonic, the Orchestra of Teatro La Fenice, the Nürnberg Symphony Orchestra, and the Tyrol Festival in Erl.
