Marlis Petersen & Florian Boesch Lead The Herbstgold Festival 2020

The Herbstgold Festival in Eisenstadt  has announced its 2020 Edition. For the purposes of this article, we will focus only on vocal performances.

The festival opens with a concert starring soprano Marlis Petersen, mezzo-soprano Anke Vondung, tenor Werner Güra, and bass Florian Boesch. The program includes Haydn’s Symphony No. 30 in C major (” Alleluia”), and Beethoven’s Mass in C major, Op. 86.

Nicolas Altstaedt will conduct the Haydn Philharmonie and Arnold Schoenberg Choir.

Performance date: September 9, 2020

Soprano Agnes Palmisano will present a special program chosen by the pianist Paul Gulda. Erich Hütter will play the cello, and Maria Fedotova will play the flute.

Performance date: September 13, 2020

A semistaged performance of Haydn’s opera “L’incontro improvviso” will spotlight tenors Bernhard Berchtold and Markus Miesenberger, sopranos Elisabeth Breuer, Anna Willerding and Annastina Malm, and basses Rafael Fingerlos and Michael Wagner.

Michi Gaigg will conduct the L’Orfeo Barockorchester.

Performance date: September 18, 2020

Works by Bach, Brahms, Bartók, Schubert, Süßmayr, Debussy, Mozart, Janáček, and Shostakovich will be performed in the rest of the program, among others.
