
Markus Poschner Appointed Conductor of ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna
By Francisco SalazarMarkus Poschner has been appointed Chief Conductor of the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna from the 2026–27 season.
Poschner also serves as Chief Conductor of the Bruckner Orchester Linz through 2026–27) and Orchestra della Svizzera italiana through 2024–25. He is also the designate Chief Conductor of Sinfonieorchester Basel and Music Director of Utah Symphony, commencing fully in 2025–26 and 2027–28, respectively.
The conductor’s mentors and supporters included Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Colin Davis, and Jorma Panula. He is an honorary professor at the University of Bremen, where he teaches courses in musicology and music education.
Poschner next conducts the OR Radio Symphony in February at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
