Mark Minkowski Replaces Sir Simon Rattle for ‘Das Paradies und die Peri’ in Berlin
By David SalazarThe Staatskpelle Berlin has announced a major change for its upcoming performance of Schumann’s “Das Paradies und die Peri” at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and Elbphilharmonie.
The showcase, which is set for Feb. 20, 21 and 23, will be conducted by Marc Minkowski, who will take over for Simon Rattle, who withdrew from the performance due to a minor operation he underwent on Feb. 14, 2022.
Soloists for the Schumann work will include Lucy Crowe, Anna Prohaska, Anna Lapkovskaja, Andrew Staples, Linard Vrielink, and Florian Boesch.
Rattle is currently in the midst of a run of “The Makropolous Case” at the Staatsoper Berlin, which he intends to bring to competition during its remaining performance on Feb. 16, 19, 22, 25, and 27, 2022.
