Marina Rebeka, Ricarda Merbeth & Stéphane Degout Lead Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse’s 2020-21 Season

The Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse has announced its 2020-21 season. Here is a look at the opera and vocal performances.

Productions 

Bizet’s “Les Pêcheurs de Perles” opens the season in a new production by Thomas Lebrun. Emmanuel Plasson conducts the production with Anne-Catherine Gillet, Mathias Vidal, Alexandre Duhamel, and Jean-Fernand Setti.

Performance Dates: Sept. 26-Oct. 9, 2020

Catherine Hunold sings the title role of Faure’s “Pénélope” with Airam Hernández, Frédéric Caton, Anaïk Morel, Andreea Soare, Céline Laborie, Sonia Menen, Olivia Doray, Victoire Bunel, Mathias Vidal, and Marc Mauillon. Anne Le Bozec conducts.

Performance Date: Oct. 23, 2020

Britten’s “The Rape of Lucretia” is set to be conducted by Marius Stieghorst and directed by Anne Delbée. Agnieszka Rehlis, Duncan Rock, Dominic Barberi, Marc Scoffoni, Julie Pasturaud, and Andreea Soare.

Performance Dates: Nov. 27-Dec. 3, 2020

Gábor Káli conducts a production of Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” by Florent Siaud. Stéphane Degout sings the title role, Valentina Fedeneva, Eva Zaïcik, Bror Magnus Tødenes, and Nicolas Cavallier.

Performance Dates: Jan. 26-Feb. 7, 2021

Jordi Savall conducts Vivaldi’s “Teuzzone” with Andy Liu, Giuseppina Bridelli, Francesca Biliotti, Theodora Raftis, Mauro Borgione, Gabriel Díaz, and Víctor Sordo.

Performance Date: Feb. 14, 2021

Leo Hussain conducts a production of Debussy’s “Pelléas et Mélisande” by Eric Ruf. Marc Mauillon, Victoire Bunel, André Heyboer, Janina Baechle, and Franz-Josef Selig.

Performance Dates: March 2-11, 2021

Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” will be conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev and will star Michael Nagy, Karine Deshayes, Julien Véronèse, Anaïs Constans, and Eléonore Pancrazi.

Performance Dates: April 2-13, 2021

Silvia Costa directs a double bill with Debussy’s “La Damoiselle Elue” and Janacek’s “Journal d’un Disparu.” The production stars Chiara Skerath, Marie Kalinine, Kristofer Lundin, and Alain Franco.

Performance Dates: April 15-21, 2021

Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” is set to be conducted by Paolo Arrivabeni and directed by Nicolas Joel. The production is set to star Catherine Hunold, Amadi Lagha, Gezim Myshketa, Nicolas Courjal, Raehann Bryce-Davis, Sergio Vitale, and Roberto Covatta.

Performance Dates: May 25-June 3, 2021

Frank Beermann conducts a new production of R. Strauss’ “Elektra” directed by Michel Fau. The production is set to star Ricarda Merbeth in the title role, Johanna Rusanen, Violeta Urmana, Matthias Goerne, and Frank van Aken.

Performance Dates: June 25-July 2, 2021

 

 

Recitals 

Sabine Devieilhe and Alexandre Tharaud perform a recital with music by Fauré, Debussy, Ravel, and Poulenc.

Performance Date: Sept. 25, 2020

Marina Rebeka and Mathieu Pordoy perform a program with music by Verdi, Tosti, Respighi, Rachmaninov, and Prokofiev

Performance Date: Oct. 15, 2020

Matthias Goerne performs Schubert’s Winterreise with Nelson Goerner.

Performance Dates: Jan. 18, 2021

Véronique Gens and Susan Manoff perform French Melodies.

Mezzo-soprano Grace Durham is set to give a recital.

Performance Dates:  Oct. 1, 2020

Tenor Carl Ghazarossian performs an evening of song and arias.

Performance Date: Jan. 28, 2021

Soprano Marie Perbost will also share her star power in one evening.

Performance Date: March 4, 2021

Emiliano Gonzalez Toro and Thomas Enhco team up for a recital.

Performance Dates: April 8, 2021

The final recital will be by mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis.

Concerts

Chœur du Capitole present two concerts with Alfonso Caiani conducting soloists Yael Raanan-Vandor and Loriane Llorca featuring the music of  Fauré and Poulenc.

Performance Dates: Oct. 16 & 17, 2020

Concert de Noël will feature Operettas and musicals with the Chœur et Maîtrise du Capitole under the direction of Alfonso Caiani.

Performance Dates: Dec. 5 & 6, 2020

Les Sacqueboutiers will feature Jean-Pierre Canihac and Daniel Lassalle conducting soloist Monica Bacelli in music by Monteverdi and Berio.

Performance Date: March 3, 2021

There will be a number of concerts dedicated to the music of Fauré featuring Nicolas Stavy, Victoire Bunel, Mathias Vidal, Sarah Ristorcelli, Marc Mauillon, and Anne Le Bozec.

Performance Dates: Oct. 24 & 25, 2020

The second event will be dedicated to Séverac with soloists Anne Le Bozec, Nathanaël Gouin, Anaïs Constans, Françoise Masset, Eva Zaïcik, and Carl Ghazarossian.

Performance Dates: Feb. 5 & 6, 2021
