Marina Rebeka Replaces Sonya Yoncheva in ‘Anna Bolena’ at Theatre de Champs-Elysées

The Theatre de Champs-Elysées has announced a cast change for its upcoming concert performance of “Anna Bolena.”

The company noted that Marina Rebeka will replace Sonya Yoncheva in the title role.

For her part, Yoncheva took to social media and revealed that she had tested positive for COVID-19. She said, “After two years of hide and seek – there we are! Unfortunately with symptoms. I’m very sad this also means I can’t come to Paris to make my title role debut as “Anna Bolena” at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées on April 11.”

Rebeka has performed the title role of Anna Bolena at the Opera de Bordeaux and is set to open a new production at the Dutch National Opera later in May.

The Latvian soprano joins a cast that includes Karine Deshayes, Erwin Schrott, and Enea Scala. Maurizio Benini conducts the Orchestre de chambre de Paris.
