Marina Rebeka & Chen Reiss Highlight New CD/DVD Releases (Week of March 23)

This week, two divas release new albums dedicated to Beethoven and French opera. Here is a look.

Elle

Marina Rebeka will release her fourth solo album and her second for Prima Classic. The new album will celebrate the diversity of the female roles in some of the greatest French Opera Arias of the canon including Charpentier’s “Louise,” Gonoud’s “Romeo et Juliette,” Massenet’s “Thaïs,” Bizet’s “Carmen” and “The Pearl Fishers,” Massenet’s “Le Cid,” Debussy’s “L’Enfant Prodigue” and Gonoud’s “Faust.” Rebeka is joined by Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen (Switzerland) and conductor Michael Balke.

Immortal Beloved

Chen Reiss releases a new album dedicated to the works of Beethoven. Released by Onyx, the recording also features harpist Oliver Wass, Academy Ancient Music, and conductor Richard Egarr. The album includes “Ah! Perfido” and from various cantatas.
