Marina Costa-Jackson, Zachary Nelson & Nicole Cabell Lead North Carolina Opera’s 2022-23 Season

North Carolina Opera has announced its 2022-23 season, featuring two company premieres and audience favorites.

Here’s what the company has in store for audiences.

NCO will present its season opener and company premiere of Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” in concert for one night only. The presentation stars Marina Costa-Jackson, Jonathan Burton, Levi Hernandez, and Donald Hartmann. NCO’s presentation of Puccini’s devastating love story will feature the full orchestra onstage. Antony Walker conducts.

Performance Date: Oct. 2, 2022

Maestro Joseph Mechavich and stage director Brenna Corner reunite after garnering rave reviews for NCO’s 2021 production of “La Bohème” to lead the company’s production of “Don Giovanni.” The staging stars Lucia Cesaroni, Sylvia d’Eramo, Timothy Murray, Alex McKissick, and Zachary Nelson.

Performance Dates: Jan. 27 and 29, 2023

In April, the season wraps with another company debut, “Porgy and Bess.” Du’Bois A’Keen directs the production, which stars Nicole Cabell, Kenneth Overton, Victor Ryan Robertson, and Michelle Johnson. James Meena conducts. NCO’s fully staged presentation of “Porgy and Bess” is a co-production with Opera Carolina.

Performance Dates: April 14 and 16, 2023
