The San Francisco Conservatory of Music has announced major additions to its vocal and opera department for its 2020-21 season.

Legendary opera star Marilyn Horne will join the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as Artist-in-Residence; pianist Martin Katz will share the distinction. Meanwhile, Joel Revzen who is a Metropolitan Opera assistant conductor, will lead the spring opera production while Peter Grunberg and César Cañón will be joining the institutions collaborative piano faculty.

Horne will work with vocalists and collaborative pianists in a series of small group and individual sessions; Katz will lead workshops, masterclasses, and one-on-one coachings during 10 campus visits throughout the year.

“Marilyn Horne and Martin Katz are an iconic duo who began working together when Martin was the age of many of our graduate students,” said César Ulloa, the Chair of the Voice Department.. “The depth of that artistic partnership will be hugely inspiring to our students, who will receive one-on-one sessions and participate in master classes with both artists.”
