The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées has announced its 2023-24 season featuring opera, opera in concert, and recitals. Here is a look at the vocal performances of the season.

Opera

Thomas Hengelbrock conducts Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” in a production by Damiano Michieletto. Marina Viotti, Levy Sekgapane, Edward Nelson, and Peter Kálmán.

Performance Dates: Oct. 9-19, 2023

Mozary’s “Die Zauberflöte” will be conducted by François-Xavier Roth and directed by Cédric Klapisch. The cast is set to star Cyrille Dubois, Regula Mühlemann, Florian Sempey, Jean Teitgen, and Aleksandra Olczyk.

Joël Soichez conducts “Une Petite Flûte” in a production by Julie Depardieu. Fabien Hyon, Lauranne Oliva, Manon Lamaison, Adrien Fournaison, Louise Pingeot, Olivier Gourdy, Charlie Guillemin, and Anne-Sophie Petit.

Performance Dates: Feb. 3-11, 2023

Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godounov” will be conducted by Andris Poga and directed by Olivier Py. Matthias Goerne, Victoire Bunel, Lila Dufy, Svetlana Lifar, Marius Brenciu, and Mikhail Timoshenko stars.

Petr Nekoranec, Gwendoline Blondeel, Jean-Christophe Lanièce, Lucile Richardot, Etienne Bazola, Alex Rosen, and Hélène Patarot star in Charpentier’s “David et Jonathas.” Sébastien Daucé conducts the production by Jean Bellorini.

Jean-Christophe Spinosi conducts Vivaldi’s “L’Olimpiade” in a production by Emmanuel Daumas. Jakub Józef Orliński, Marina Viotti, Varduhi Abrahamyan, Delphine Galou, Jodie Devos, Luigi De Donato, and Christian Senn star.

Opera in Concert 

Rameau’s “Les Boréades”  will star Sabine Devieilhe, Reinoud Van Mechelen, Thomas Dolié, Tassis Christoyannis, Benedikt Kristjánsson, Philippe Estèphe, and Gwendoline Blondeel. György Vashegyi conducts the Orfeo Orchestra and Purcell Choir.

Julia Lezhneva, Eva Zaïcik, Mauro Peter, and Nahuel Di Pierro lead Mozart’s Requiem. Julien Chauvin conducts and Amihai Grosz is the soloist.

Marianne Crebassa takes on the title role of Bizet’s “Carmen” alongside Stanislas de Barbeyrac, Iulia Maria Dan, and Jérôme Boutillier. Ben Glassberg conducts the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen Normandie and Chœur Accentus / Opéra de Rouen Normandie.

Anna Dennis, Hugh Cutting, Guy Cutting, and Dominic Sedgwick lead Bach’s “Oratorio de Noël.” Masaaki Suzuki conducts the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Choir of the Age of Enlightenment.

Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” stars Albina Shagimuratova, Julien Behr, Florie Valiquette, Sulkhan Jaiani, and Sahy Ratia. Julien Chauvin conducts Le Concert de la Loge and the Chœur Fiat Cantus.

Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” will celebrate the holiday season with a cast that includes Huw Montague Rendall, Jacquelyn Stucker, Samuel Hasselhorn, Alina Wunderlin, Sandrine Buendia, Magnus Dietrich, Krešimir Špicer, Marina Viotti, and Sunnyi Melles. Marc Minkowski conducts Les Musiciens du Louvre.

Henry Desmarest and André Campra’s “Iphigénie en Tauride” will star Véronique Gens, Reinoud Van Mechelen, Tassis Christoyannis, David Witczak, Olivia Doray, and Floriane Hasler. Hervé Niquet conducts the Orchestre et Chœur Le Concert Spirituel.

Kurt Weill’s “Die sieben Todsünden” will star Marina Viotti and Judith Chemla. Marc Leroy-Calatayud conducts L’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève.

Regula Mühlemann, Matthias Rexroth, and Ludovic Tézier lead Orff’s “Carmina Burana” with Kazuki Yamada and the Orchestre National de France.

Lully’s “Alceste” will be performed by Véronique Gens, Cyril Auvity, Luigi De Donato, Luc Bertin-Hugault, Camille Poul, Léo Vermot-Desroches, Geoffroy Buffières, Claire Lefilliâtre, Cécile Achille, and Juliette Mey. Stéphane Fuget conducts Les Epopées.

Carlo Vistoli stars in Händel’s “Rinaldo” with Emőke Baráth, Chiara Skerath, Lucile Richardot, Anthea Pichanick, and Andrea Mastroni. Thibault Noally conducts Les Accents.

Christian Van Horn takes on the title role of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with Slávka Zámečníková, Bogdan Volkov, Federica Lombardi, Peter Kellner, Antonio Di Matteo, Martin Häßler, and Patricia Nolz. Philippe Jordan conducts the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Vienne.

Purcell’s “Dido and Æneas” and Carissimi’s “Jephté” will star Joyce DiDonato, Andrew Staples, Fatma Saïd, Beth Taylor, Carlotta Colombo, Alena Dantcheva, Anna Piroli, Massimo Altieri, and Hugh Cutting. Maxim Emelyanychev conducts Il Pomo d’Oro.

Bizets “Les Pêcheurs de perles” is set to star Sandra Hamaoui, Xabier Anduaga, Benjamin Appl, and Matthieu Lécroart. Lorenzo Passerini conducts the Orchestre de chambre de Paris.

Berlioz’s “La Damnation de Faust” will star Stanislas de Barbeyrac, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Jean Teitgen, and Frédéric Caton. Cristian Măcelaru conducts the Orchestre National de France and Chœur de Radio France.

“Passion selon Saint Matthieu” will star Maximilian Schmitt, Yannick Debus, Kateryna Kasper, Philippe Jaroussky, Emiliano Gonzalez Toro, and Andreas Wolf. Francesco Corti conducts the Freiburger Barockorchester and Zürcher Sing-Akademie

Lully’s “Atys” will star Mathias Vidal, Véronique Gens, Deborah Cachet, Tassis Christoyannis, Floriane Hasler, Eléonore Pancrazi, and David Witczak. Alexis Kossenko conducts Les Ambassadeurs~La Grande Ecurie and Les Pages et les Chantres du Centre de musique baroque de Versailles.

Iréne Theorin takes on the title role fo Strauss’ “Elektra” alongside Violetta Urmana, Simone Schneider, Paweł Konik, and Matthias Klink. Cornelius Meister conducts the Staatsorchester Stuttgart.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Wagner’s “Die Walkure” with the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest. The cast includes Stanislas de Barbeyrac, Elza van den Heever, Soloman Howard, Brian Mulligan, Karen Cargill, and Tamara Wilson.

Sandrine Piau take son the toitle role of Händel’s “Bérénice.” She sings alongside Ann Hallenberg, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, Hugh Cutting, Rupert Charlesworth, and John Chest. Francesco Corti conducts Il Pomo d’Oro.

Franco Fagioli is set to star in Händel’s “Tolomeo” with Giulia Semenzato, Andrea Mastroni, Giuseppina Bridelli, and Christophe Dumaux. Giovanni Antonini conducts the Kammerorchester Basel.

The Paris Opera Competition finals will be held with Julie Fuchs and Valentina Nafornita.

The Orchestre de la Garde républicaine will be conducted by Sébastien Billard.

Opera Fuoco celebrates its 20th anniversary with soloists Axelle Fanyo, Cyrielle Ndjiki Nya, Vannina Santoni, Chantal Santon Jeffery, Adèle Charvet, Karine Deshayes, Natalie Pérez, and Sahy Ratia.
