María José Siri, Ruth Iniesta & Devid Cecconi Lead Teatro Verdi Trieste’s 2022 Season

Italy’s Teatro Verdi Trieste has announced its 2022 season featuring modern and classic works and only Italian operas.

The season opens with Chiara Muti’s production of Nicola Piovani’s “Amorosa presenza.” The opera, which will be conducted by the composer, will star Maria Rita Combattelli, Giusepe Tommaso, Aliosa Aisemberg, William Hernandez, and Adriano Gramigni.

Performance Dates: Jan. 21-29, 2022 

María José Siri and Kristina Kolar sing the title role in Puccini’sTosca with Mikheil Sheshaberidze and Raffaele Abete sharing the role of Cavaradossi. Ernesto Petti and Angelo Veccia round out the cast as Scarpia. Christopher Franklin conducts.

Performance Dates: March 4-12, 2022

Donzietti’sDon Pasquale comes to life with Pablo Ruiz and Michele Govi in the title role and Nina Muho and Elisa Verzier as Norina. The cast is rounded out by Antonino Siragusa and César Cortés as Ernesto, and Vincenzo Nizzardo and Bruno Taddia as Malatesta. Roberto Gianola conducts.

Performance Dates: April 1-9, 2022

Verdi’s Rigoletto will be performed by Devid Cecconi and Stefano Meo in the title role, Ruth Iniesta and Olga Dyadiv as Gilda and Carlos Cadoso and Iván Ayón Rivas as Il Duca di Mantova. Valentina Peleggi conducts as cast that is rounded by Abramo Rosalen, Cristian Saitta, and Anastasia Boldyreva.

Performance Dates: May 6-14, 2022

The season concludes with a double bill of Resphigi’s “Al Mulino” and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci.” Afag Abbasova-Budagova Nurahmed, Domenico Balzani, Zi Zhao Guo, Cristian Saitta, and Carlo Torriani star in the Resphigi work while Amadi Lagha, Rubens Pellizzari, Valeria Sepe, Afag Abbasova-Budagova Nurahmed, Devid Cecconi, Stefano Meo, Blagoj Nacoski and Nicolò Ceriani star in the Leoncavallo work. Fabrizio Da Ros and Fabrizio Maria Carminati conduct.

Performance Dates: June 10-18, 2022
