Italian television channel Rai5 has announced broadcasts for the week of Feb. 14 – Feb. 20, 2021.

The opera broadcasts will be dedicated to composer Giacomo Puccini. The stream on Feb. 14 will be dedicated to late soprano Mirella Freni.

OPERAS

The broadcast of Niccolò Piccinni’s opera “La Cecchina, o sia la buona figliola” is first in the line. The cast includes Mirella Freni, Sesto Bruscantini, Werner Hollweg, Rita Talarico, Valeria Mariconda, Gloria Trillo, and Bianca Maria Casoni. Franco Caracciolo conducts the production by Virginio Puecher.

A production of “Manon Lescaut” follows. The opera stars Maria José Siri, Gregory Kunde, Dalibor Jenis, and Carlo Lepore. Gianandrea Noseda conducts the production by Vittorio Borrelli. The opera was filmed at Teatro Regio di Torino.

In the evening, spectators will have an opportunity to see the production of “Turandot” from 2012. Bruno Bartoletti conducts the production by Ermanno Olmi.
