Soprano María José Siri has canceled her upcoming performances of “Manon Lescaut” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

The soprano made the announcement via social media, noting that she was struggling with Tracheitis.

“Dear friends, due to a strong Tracheitis I had to cancel tonight’s performance of “Manon Lescaut” at the @deutsche_oper Berlin. I am so sorry not to be able to sing tonight! See you in September for the new production of ‘La Forza del Destino,’” she wrote on Twitter.

She will be replaced by soprano Annemarie Kremer, who will sing from offstage. Meanwhile Gerlinde Pelkowski will take stage in costume to interpret the role.

Next up on the schedule for the soprano is a performance of Verdi’s Requiem at the Bregenzer Festspiele on July 22. She will follow that with three performances of “Aida” in Verona on August 3, 9, and 18 followed by the “Forza del Destino” run at the Deustche Oper Berlin. She will appear in six presentations of the Verdi opera before heading to Florence for performances of “Il Tabarro” and “Suor Angelica” to close out her 2019 calendar.
