Maria Guleghina Returns to the Stage at the Sofia Opera

Maria Guleghina is set to return to the stage on June 18 in a production of “Parsifal.”

The soprano will sing the role of Kundry at the Sofia Opera in Bulgaria.

In a statement, Guleghina said, “Dear friends, I am very happy to invite you to the fantastic production of academia. Kartalov the opera “Parsifal.” Expect beautiful music and fantastic scenery. I will be waiting for you on June 18th at the Sofia Opera.”

She will be joined by Martin Iliev, Atanas Mladenov, Peter Buckkov, Angel Hristov, and Veselin Mihailov. Stefan Scholtes conducts.

The production marks the soprano’s first performance since she canceled her concert in Moscow due to the war. She first performed the role of Kundry under Valery Gergiev at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2019.
