Maria Brea to Perform ‘Lonesome Tears’ Recital

On Monday evening March 14, 2022, Venezuelan American soprano Maria Brea will join forces with pianist Max Lifchitz for an intimate recital.

The concert, entitled “Lonesome Tears,” will feature music from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and the US and will include the music of Miguel Astor, Harry Bulow, Hector Campos-Parsi, Antonio Estevez, Max Lifchitz, Sheli Nan, William Ortiz, Joseph Rivers, and Joel Eric Suben.

A co-founder of the Instagram platform Latina Women in Opera, Brea was a scholarship student at both Manhattan School and Juilliard. Brea is also a recipient of a Novick Career Advancement Grant and has performed in competitions from Opera Cultura, Mary Truman Art Song, Giulio Gari, New York Lyric Opera and the Gerda Lissner Art Song. She sang with New Camerata Opera, Barn Opera, Carnegie Hall, and many more.

The livestream event will start at 8 p.m. EST and will originate from the National Opera Center in New York.
