Maria Brea to Headline Venezuelans and Immigrants Aid’s ‘A Song for Venezuela’

By David Salazar

Non-profit organization Venezuelans and Immigrants Aid, Inc is set to present “A Song for Venezuela” on Oct. 20, 2021.

The showcase will star Venezuela soprano Maria Brea who recently appeared as a finalist at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. She will perform music dedicated to Venezuela alongside musicians from Orchestrating Dreams as well as singer Rebeca Marchan and percussionist Jeickov Vital.

The performance will take place at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in New York City.

“The complex Venezuelan humanitarian emergency has produced the most extensive human displacement on the American continents in recent decades. This fact has significantly impacted countries that have received forced migrants who have been fleeing Venezuela for more than six years,” the organization stated in an official statement. ”As a non-profit organization that supports Venezuelan forced migrants in New York, VIA works in partnership with local organizations, institutions, and volunteer staff to offer programs and activities for Venezuelans of varying immigration status: those with pending asylum applications, those approved for asylum, applicants for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and those in legal limbo.”
