Music for Thought is set to kick off its 2021-22 season with “A Musical Journey of Song from Europe to Latin America” on Oct. 17, 2021.

The showcase, which is set to take place at St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery, will be headlined by soprano Maria Brea alongside a wide range of musicians including pianist Hannah Harnest, guitarist Kevin Sherwin, violinist Edson Scheid, violinist Üda Kinder, and cellist Maria Figueroa.

Rosa Vento and Manuel Laufer, faculty at NYU Steinhardt will appear as speakers.

“We think that finding your unique identity is something so important and prevalent in our world today. It is changing language and the way we perceive ourselves in this multicultural atmosphere in New York, and we thought to express this best with the varied music from different eras and continents that we chose for our concert,” Harnest told OperaWire via email.

The Music for Thought Series is supported by German Consulate in New York City.
