Marek Janowski is set to conduct the first act of Wagner’s “Die Walküre.”

The concert will also showcase Alban Berg’s “Drei Orchesterstücken” and Anton Webern’s Idyll for orchestra “In Sommerwind.”

Wagner’s work will feature an international cast that includes Camilla Nylund as Sieglinde, Christopher Ventris as Siegmund and Franz-Josef Selig as Hunding.

Janowski’s decision to include Webern and Berg is due to Wagner’s influence on the 19th and 20th centuries. The composers mark the Second Viennese School, with Webern’s symphonic poem directly linked to Liszt and Wagner.

Nylund is a recognized Wagnerian soprano who has performed all around the world and is set for her Metropolitan Opera debut this season in “Der Rosenkavalier.” Ventris is a leading Wagnerian who performs regularly at the Bayreuth Festival.

Performances are scheduled for Sept. 21 and 22, 2019 at the Kulturpalast, Konzertsaal.
