Marco Vratogna Out Of Vienna ‘Andrea Chénier’

Marco Vratogna was let go by the Wiener Staatsoper in the upcoming revival of “Andrea Chénier.”

According to Vratogna’s manager, the baritone was written out of Friday’s big-screen broadcast of “Andrea Chénier” for turning up late for rehearsal while the company noted that the baritone never turned up.

According to Vratogna’s team, the baritone notified the company that he would have to miss the first two rehearsals for family reasons and bad weather in Italy. The third rehearsal which was held on May 17, and Vratogna reportedly arrived late after driving the entire night to Vienna. However, the Weiner Staatsoper said he never showed up.

According to the company, Vratogna was offered the final two performances due to a lack of rehearsal time but declined.

As a result, Luca Salsi has replaced the baritone in the revival, which is set to star Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov.

Performances are scheduled for May 20 through 31, 2019.
