Marble City Opera Unveils 2022-23 Season
By David SalazarTennessee-based Marble City Opera has unveiled its 2022-23 season.
Kicking everything off will be George Lam and John Clum’s “Heartbreak Express,” which is inspired by the documentary “For the Love of Dolly.” The work follows Dolly Parton “superfans” as they prepare to meet the famed icon for the very first time. The opera will take place at the Flying Anvil Theatre and will be directed by Marya Barry. Dr. Christy Lee conducts.
Performance Dates: Oct. 20-22, 2022
Next up is Kamala Sankaram and Rob Handel’s “The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace.” The work will be conducted by Amy Wilson and directed by Sierra Hammond. Audiences will be able to check it out at the Old City Performing Arts Center.
Performance Dates: March 16 – 18, 2023
The season draws to a close with Carlisle Floyd’s famed “Susannah.” Matt Haney directs with Andy Anderson conducting.
Performance Dates: June 8 – 10, 2023
