Marble City Opera to Present ‘Pagliacci’

By Francisco Salazar

Marble City Opera is set to close its 2025-26 season with two performances of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” on June 5 and 7, 2025.

The performances will be held at the A.K. Bissell Park in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The work returns to the company after it presented a “socially-distanced version of ‘Pagliacci’ in August 2020.

In a statement, Marble City Opera’s Executive Artistic Director Kathryn Frady said, “The bandshell pavilion at A.K. Bissell Park evokes the image of a circus tent used by the commedia dell’arte troupe when they arrive in town. Members of the chorus will be on stage as well as intermingled with the audience to create an immersive atmosphere for this timeless opera.”

The opera will star Tenor Edward Brennan as Canio, Kathryn Frady as Nedda, Brad Morrison as Tonio, and Cody Boling as Beppe. The orchestra will be conducted by Andy Anderson and Kathryn Frady will direct the production.
