
Mannes Opera to Present ‘Flashpoints-The Mannes Festival of Short Operas’

Directed by Emma Griffin and conducted by Cris Frisco, the festival will include eight dramas in 90 minutes.
The Mannes’ first annual celebration of short opera is a theatrical sampler of incredible composers and librettists, new and old. The longest opera that will be presented is 15 minutes and the festival will showcase talents from Mannes.
The program will include “Hin und zurück” by Paul Hindemith and Marcellus Schiffer; “The Act” by Lori Laitman and H.L. Hix; “Night Flight to San Francisco / Harper’s Monologue” by Ricky Ian Gordon and Tony Kushner; “600 Square Feet” by Nkeiru Okoye and David Cote; and “THE LIGHTHOUSE WAVE” by Errolyn Wallen.
Other operas include “Lucy” by Tom Cipullo; “A Flourish of Green” by Missy Mazzoli and Mark Campbell; and “Triple-Sec” by Marc Blitzstein and Ronald Jeans.
The opera will be performed on April 11, 12 and 13 and will star Marcella Astore, Ting-Yi Chen, Wei Chen, Claire Coven, Dalis De la Mothe, Brianna Dulock, Allen Pearcy Galeana, Junze Gong, Melissa Hartman, Maoyu Hou, Yuzhen Jin, Brooke Jones, Joohyun Kim, Alexandra Kzeski, Brea Marshall, Catherine McClure, Dmitry Mironov, Angela Shon, Colin Safley, India Rowland, Tiffany Ye, and Shi Yu.
