Manchester Camerata Announces 2022 Season

Manchester Camerata has announced its 50th anniversary.

Our 50th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate what has happened so far as well as our plans for the future. Everyone leaves a mark at the Camerata, be that a musical style, a way of thinking, or something else distinctive. We have countless anecdotes, recordings and community projects as part of our collective legacy. We want to invite our audience to join us as we reflect on our history and initiate new partnerships across the year to come,” Bob Riley, Chief Executive of Manchester Camerata, said in an official release.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal and operatic performances.

First up will be a presentation of Puccini’s “La Bohème,” in collaboration with Neville Holt Opera. This is collaboration is a follow-up to the two organizations presenting an open-air performance of “La Traviata” in 2021. The full cast will be revealed at a later date.

Performance Dates: June 8 – 14, 2022

The company will combine forces with OperaUpClose, composer Laura Bowler, and librettist Glyn Maxwell for a reimagining of Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman.” The full cast will be revealed at a later date.

Performance Dates: Autumn 2022

To close out the vocal and operatic offerings on the season, Manchester Camerata will present Händel’s “Messiah” as part of its holiday offerings. The full cast will be revealed at a later date.

Performance Date: Dec. 3, 2022
