Mainfranken-Theater & Intendant Part Ways

Director Markus Trabusch is parting from the Würzburg Mainfranken-Theater.

Trabusch announced that he would be leaving at the end of December. He was originally set to end his contract in 2026.

According to reports Trabusch has criticized audiences and recently said that “the sounds of a disabled person making comments during a performance was a ‘massive disturbance.’ He was also criticized for his leadership style. In total, Trabusch was director of the Mainfranken Theater for eight years.

Georg Rootering will take over as commissioner intendant filling in for Trabusch. The selection process for the new Intendant will continue as planned a decision will be made by the summer of 2025.

Rootering is currently known as the artistic director of the project “Freedom 1525, Freedom 2025. 500 years of peasant war.”
