Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, ‘Resurrection’ Heads to Bogotá, Colombia

On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, Colombia will present Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection” with 200 artists taking the stage together.

The performance of the massive choral symphony will be conducted by Josep Caballé-Domenech. He will lead the Youth orchestra of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra as well as Colombian soprano Betty Garcés and English mezzo Susan Platts.

Garcés is a major star in Colombia, having performed as Liú with the Colombian Opera in Bogotá. She was also inited to perform as a soloist in the reopening concert of the Teatro Colón in Bogotá and performed the “Four Last Songs” with the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and the International Society for Performing Arts ISPA. She has also performed around the world in such countries as Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, Germany, the U.K, Austria, Italy, Belgium, and Portugal, among others.

Platts has performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as well as the Ópera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, among others venues.
