The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced a new superintendent.

The Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, signed the decree appointing Carlo Fuortes as the new superintendent of the Fondazione del Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

In a statement, Minister Sangiuliano said, “I wish Superintendent Fuortes well in his work. With his mandate, he is called upon to re-launch one of the nation’s major cultural institutions, restored thanks to the work of extraordinary commissioner Onofrio Cutaia, to whom I pay tribute, and to give luster to its international vocation.”

For his part, Fuortes said, “I am happy and honored to be able to contribute in the role of superintendent to the great history of this Theatre, which has enriched the musical heritage of our country since 1933. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is one of the most prestigious institutions representing Italian cultural excellence in the world.”
