The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced a conductor change for its performance of “La Finta Semplice” on Jan. 26, 2023.

The company said, “due to a sudden indisposition of maestro Theodor Guschlbauer, Edoardo Barsotti will conduct instead. The company also said Maestro Alessandro Uva will take his place on the harpsichord.

Barsotti is an Italian pianist and vocal coach who has served as a member of the music staff at numerous theaters as the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Gran Teatro all’Aperto G. Puccini in Torre del Lago, the Royal Opera House in Muscat, the Teatro Verdi di Pisa and the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno.

He is set to conduct a cast that includes Andrea Locorotondo, Benedetta Torre, Eduardo Martinez Flores, Lorenzo Martelli, Xenia Tziouvaras, Rosalìa Cid, Luca Bernard, and Davide Piva.
