The Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced changes to its opening night of “La Bohème” on Nov. 14, 2023.

The company said, “Due to the national strike, called by the trade unions for the renewal of the national collective labor contract of the Opera and Symphonic Foundations, it is not possible – at the present time – to guarantee the regular execution of the first performance of the opera ‘La bohème’ scheduled for tonight, 8pm.”

As a result, “the Teatro del Maggio has decided to raise the curtain on the performance which will eventually be played with the music on the piano.”

Audiences who do not intend to attend the performance can request a refund or can change their seat to one of the next performances of “La Bohème.”

The opera is set to star Mariangela Sicilia, Galeano Salas, Min Kim, and Elisa Balbo.
