The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced a cast change for its performance of Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” on June 7, 2022.

The company noted that the role of Zerbinetta and Dryade will be sung by Sara Blanch and Eleonora Filipponi.

Blanch will replace Jessica Pratt as Zerbinetta while Filipponi will replace Anna Doris Capitelli as Dryade.

Blanch is a rising star who is currently rehearsing “The Magic Flute” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and has performed at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Donizetti Opera Festival, among others while Filipponi has performed at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Teatr Ulm.

They join a cast that includes Alexander Pereira, Markus Werba, Michèle Losier, AJ Glueckert, and Krassimira Stoyanova.

“Ariadne auf Naxos” runs through June 17 with Pratt and Capitelli slated to return for the rest of the run.
