The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced a cast change for its production of “La Traviata.”

The company said that Plàcido Domingo will not sing in tonight’s performance of “La Traviata.”

“The great artist, with regret, has just told the Theatre that he has not recovered from the severe cold that hit him and is therefore unable to play the role in tonight’s first performance.”

As result, Amartuvshin Enkhbat will replace Domingo in the role of Germont.

The baritone joins a cast that includes Aida Garifullina and Francesco Meli. Zubin Mehta conducts the production by Davide Livermore.

Domingo returns to the production on Feb. 15.
