Madison Lyric Stage To Present ‘Hotel Fables: Episodes in A Life’

By David Salazar

The Madison Lyric Stage will showcase tenor Marc Deaton in “Hotel Fables: Episodes in a Life” on Nov. 15-17 at the Deacon John Grave House in Madison, Connecticut.

The program will feature scenes from “Billy Budd,” “The Rape of Lucretia,” “Samson et Dalila,” “Manon Lescaut,” “Play,” “The Dressers,” “Cavalleria Rusticana,” “Fidelio,” and “Die Tote Stadt.”

The perfomance will also feature Jacob Boergesson, Rebecca Ellis, John Johmann, Allison Lindsay, Audra Moricca, and Allison Waggener, along with pianist Kelly Horsted.

“I wanted to present an intimate evening of music performing some of my favorite pieces, but I wasn’t interested in just standing up and singing arias,” Deaton, artistic director of Madison Lyric Stage, stated in a press release. “I spent a lot of my early career in strange hotel rooms around the world, and I started thinking about how you can become reflective when you’re by yourself in an unexpected environment. So, I decided to create an evening with this compelling theme – what might happen over the course of a life in a single hotel room – and I invited some of my favorite performers to accompany me on this musical journey.”
