The Madison Lyric Stage is set to present Gian Carlo Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”

The professional non-profit theater company is set to present the work on Dec. 14 and 15, 2024 at Madison’s First Congregational Church.

In a statement, Marc Deaton, artistic director of Madison Lyric Stage said, “Amahl and the Night Visitors quickly became and has remained a holiday tradition. We are so excited to be able to present what could become an annual event here on the shoreline for the entire family.”

“Amahl and the Night Visitors” tells the story of a magic star, a young shepherd, and how unselfish love can work miracles. The opera was originally commissioned by NBC and was the first opera written for television.
