Macerata Opera Festival Announces 2021 Season

The Macerata Opera Festival at the Sferisterio has announced the operas for the 2021 season.

The Italian festival will celebrate its centennial with Verdi’s “Aida” and “La Traviata” and “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

The season will open with Verdi’s “Aida,” in a new production by Valentina Carrasco. Francesco Lanzillotta conducts the production.

Performance Dates: July 23, August 1, 7 & 12, 2021

The new production of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will be directed by the winner of the under 35 competition in collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival and Opera Europa.

Performance Dates: July 24, 20, August 6 & 14, 2021

The final production of the season will be Verdi’s “La Traviata” in a revival by Henning Brockhaus.

Performance Dates: July 25, 31, August 8 & 13, 2021

Casts for all the productions will be revealed later in the year.
