Lyric Opera of Kansas City Announces 2024-25 Season

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City has announced its 2024-25 season.

Kevin Puts’ “The Brightness of Light” will be performed. The work is based on letters by Georgia O’Keeffe and her husband, Alfred Stieglitz. Renée Fleming and Rod Gilfry star. The work will be performed in a semi-staged concert with projections; the second half will consist of opera and Broadway hits specially selected by Fleming and Gilfry for Lyric Opera audiences.

Performance Dates: Sept. 27-29, 2024

Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” will be revived.

Performance Dates: Nov. 15-17, 2024

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City will present the company premiere of “Cruzar la cara de la luna” by  Jose “Pepe” Martinez and Leonard Foglia. It will be teh first mariachi opera at the company.

Grammy-award-winning mariachi band Mariachi los Camperos will perform.

Performance Dates: March 7-9, 2025

The season concludes with Puccini’s “Turandot.”

Performance Dates: May 2-4, 2025
