By Logan Martell

The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced the open registration for a free screening for their acclaimed production of “Twilight: Gods,” a new staging of Wagner’s “Gotterdammerung” by Yuval Sharon which took place at the Lakeside Parking Garage in April 2021.

The cast included artists such as Christine Goerke as Brünnhilde, Catherine Martin as Waltraute, Sean Panikkar as Siegfried, Morris Robinson as Hagen, and baritone Donnie Ray Albert as Alberich, with the Rhinemaidens sung by Maria Novella Malfatti, Katherine Beck, and Kathleen Felty.

“Lyric’s production of Twilight: Gods in the Millennium Lakeside Parking Garage was one of the most experimental and collaborative projects this company has ever imagined and executed,” says Anthony Freud, Lyric’s general director, president & CEO. “We are delighted to now have another unique life for the production, created expressly for film viewing, to share the experience of the work with an unlimited audience. Twilight: Gods — the live presentation and the film — highlight Lyric’s commitment to commissioning new operatic work and continuing to produce high level products designed for the digital mediums.”

The production will be available to watch from July 29 to October 29, 2021.
