Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center Announces Most Diverse Ensemble in Program’s History

The Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Patrick G. and Shirely W. Ryan Opera Center has announced its 2022-23 ensemble.

The new participants will include sopranos Kathryn Henry and Lindsey Reynolds; tenors Ryan Capozzo and Alejandro Luévanos; baritones Laureano Quant and Ian Rucker; and basses Ron Dukes and William Clay Thompson.

Among the six returning members of the Ensemble are soprano Denis Vélez, mezzo-soprano Katherine DeYoung, tenors Martin Luther Clark and Lunga Eric Hallam, conductor/pianist Donald Lee III, and pianist Chris Reynolds.

The program is also expanding in 2022-23 to include two new positions – Director and Stage Manager. The Director position will be filled by Luther H. Lewis III while Tess Naval will take over the Stage Manager position.

Per a press statement, this is the most diverse ensemble in the Ryan Opera Center’s history with 10 of the 16 members identifying as BIPOC.
