Lyric Opera Of Chicago To Present ‘The Light In The Piazza’ With Renée Fleming

The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced that the new production of the acclaimed Broadway musical “The Light in the Piazza” will be presented for limited engagements.

The company announced that Renée Fleming will star as Margaret Johnson with a cast that will include Broadway and West End stars.

The new production of “The Light in the Piazza” will be directed by Olivier Award winner and critically acclaimed musicals expert Daniel Evans and designed by Robert Jones, with costumes by Brigitte Reiffenstuel, lighting by Mark Henderson and sound by Mick Potter. The production will be played by the Lyric Opera Orchestra under the baton of Kimberly Grigsby, conductor of the original Lincoln Center production.

“The Light in the Piazza” is set for Chicago after premiering in London at the Royal Festival Hall this summer and will also appear at the LA Opera this fall. The production will get ten performances at the Lyric Opera House from December 14-29, 2019.
