Lyric Opera of Chicago Records ‘Nabucco’ Chorus
By Francisco SalazarThe Lyric Opera of Chicago has released a video of the chorus performing “Va, pensiero” from “Nabucco.”
In a statement, the company said, “We’d like to thank the wonderful members of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Chorus for sharing their talents with us during these difficult times. Here, they perform “Va, pensiero” (also known as the “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves”) from Verdi’s ‘Nabucco’ from their homes across the city. We look forward to the day we can all be together, making music once again.”
The Lyric Opera is the latest company to record the famed chorus following the Metropolitan Opera and the Washington National Opera.
The company recently canceled its 2020-21 season, but is still set to perform Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson’s “Blue,” Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore,” Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro,” and Saint-Saëns’ “Samson & Delilah.”
