By David Salazar

Lyric Fest will close out its 2022-2023 season with a program entitled “Bewitched.”

The showcase, which is scheduled for May 23, 2023 at the Community Center and May 24 at The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, will feature mezzo-soprano Suzanne DuPlantis and baritone Brian Major. They will be joined by pianist John Conahan and saxophonist Ron Kerber who will bring to life Rodgers & Hart’s selection of dynamic songs and stories.

“We are very excited to have not only John Conahan, a fabulous pianist, composer, arranger, and keyboard player, but also Ron Kerber, one of the world’s greatest saxophonists and woodwind artists; what a joy to have these two premiere instrumentalists with us to join us on some of our favorite songs,” said Suzanne DuPlantis in an official press statement.

Lyric Fest has produced and presented more than 100 concert programs, featuring artists of national and international stature. Since it was created in 2003, the organization’s goal has been to celebrate and revitalize the art song tradition. To date, Lyric Fest has commissioned over 200 new songs from many of the nation’s foremost songwriters.
