Lyric Fest Ends Season with ‘My Favorite Things’

Lyric Fest will conclude its 2021-22 season with “My Favorite Things” on June 11, 2022.

The showcase, which will star soprano Jennifer Aylmer and pianist Laura Ward, will take place at the Academy of Vocal Arts.

The program includes works by Schubert, Bizet and Irving Berlin, among others, as well as a work especially composed for Aylmer, entitled “Dead Mall Ballades” by Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi.

Aylmer is Long Island native who developed her musical training at the Eastman School of Music and Westminster Choir College. She was a member of the Juilliard Opera Center and Houston Grand Opera Studio programs, and is currently an Associate Professor of Voice at Carnegie Mellon University.

Meanwhile, Ward received her Bachelor of Music from Baylor University. She has an MFA in Piano Accompaniment from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and a Ph.D. in Accompaniment from the University of Michigan.
