Luz del Alba Rubio Latest to Accuse Plácido Domingo of Sexual Misconduct

By David Salazar

After the American Guild of Artists announced that it had found famed opera star Plácido Domingo guilty of inappropriate behavior, another accuser has come forward.

Soprano Luz del Alba Rubio is the latest to state that she was the victim of such misconduct by the star tenor. In her account, she noted that it was a big victory to see the tenor issue an apology for his misbehavior.

“I felt like we have conquered Goliath. Now we don’t have to be scared to speak out,” said Rubio according to Time. According to El Observador, an Uruguayan publication, the soprano worked with Domingo in Washington between 2000-02. She stated that she had the troubling experience with the tenor on several occasions, always within the work environment. Per Rubio’s account, she rejected him on every occasion, even at the risk of losing future roles.

She noted that Domingo harassed five different women from the same team.

Domingo issued an apology shortly after AGMA released the results of its report.
