Ludovic Tézier Cancels Participation in Bayerische Staatsoper’s ‘Don Carlo’

Ludovic Tézier has canceled his upcoming performances of “Don Carlo” at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

The baritone took to social media and said, “Dear friends, it is with regret that I have to retire from Don Carlo’s performances at the Bayerische Staatsoper. However, I was celebrating to find you again on this occasion, in this theatre and this city very dear to my heart. But my season has been extremely demanding and beyond: I haven’t had an interruption since March 2022! My body is busy reminding me of this! And my back especially, with a capsule on my right shoulder as well! No vocal so, thank God, but also nothing that helps to give my best in the role of the Marquis of Posa that I love so much! Until we meet again, please stay safe everyone, as I was led to today!”

As a result, Boris Pinkhasovich will replace Tezier as Posa. He will join Charles Castronovo, Dmitry Ulyanov, Maria Agresta, Clémentine Margaine, John Relyea.

Daniele Rustioni conducts the production which is set to be performed on July 28 and 31, 2023.
