Lucio Gallo Takes Over ‘Falstaff’ at Deutsche Oper Berlin

Italian baritone Lucio Gallo will take over the title role in the concert performance of Verdi’s “Falstaff” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin on Oct. 30 & 31, 2020, replacing Misha Kiria.

Gallo will join a cast that includes Thomas Lehman in the role of Ford, Mingjie Lei as Fenton, Andrew Dickinson as Doctor Cajus, Gideon Poppe in the role of Bardolfo, Andrew Harris as Pistola, Annette Dasch in the role of Alice Ford, Meechot Marrero as Nannetta, Arianna Manganello in the role of Meg Page, and Annika Schlicht as Mrs. Quickly.

Ivan Repusic conducts the performances.

Gallo appeared in the role of Escamillo in Bizet’s “Carmen” at the Staatsoper unter der Linden in Berlin right before the COVID-19 lockdown. The baritone is slated to perform the role of Scarpia in Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Staatsoper Berlin in February and March 2021.
