Lucia Lucas Documentary ‘The Sound of Identity’ Debuts Trailer

The trailer to “The Sound of Identity” has been released ahead of its premiere at the OUTshine Film Festival.

The documentary, which follows baritone Lucia Lucas’s historic Tulsa Opera debut, was directed by James Kicklighter and Executive Produced by Josh Bachove, in Hollywood.

The film will also be given a special screening at The Grand Opera House, outside of Atlanta at the Macon Film Festival.

Lucia Lucas is one of the most sought after transgender singers of her generation. She has performed such roles as Wotan in “Die Walküre,” the four villains in “Les Contes d’Hoffmann,” Sharpless in “Madama Butterfly,” and Escamillo in “Carmen.” Lucas has performed at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Lyric Opera of Dublin, Oper Wuppertal, and Tulsa Opera. She is scheduled to make her Metropolitan Opera debut as Bosun in “Billy Budd.”

“The Sound of Identity” makes its OUTshine premiere on August 24 at 7 p.m.
