The Dallas Opera is set to present Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” starting on March 19, 2022.

The opera will be headlined by Lucas Meachem, Alasdair Kent, Wallis Giunta, Valeriano Lanchas, Adam Lau, Courtney Maina and Prosper Makhanya. Conductor Lina González-Granados, a TDO Hart Institute for Women Directors alumna, will make her debut in the pit. Tara Faircloth directs.

The production features set design by Allen Moyer with James Scott as costume designer, Thomas C. Hase as lighting designer, David Zimmerman as the wig and make-up designer, and Alexander Rom as the Chorus Master.

“Our audiences are in for an uproariously fun performance with a production that epitomizes Rossini’s comedic flair,” said Ian Derrer, TDO’s Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO, in an official press release. “This beloved piece is such a joy to present and I have no doubt you’ll be left humming for days.”

An hour before and after the opera, The Dallas Opera will offer 30-minute interactive lectures, to be held at the Margaret McDermott Performance Hall; these talks will be presented by Hank Hammett, Director of Opera at the Meadows School of the Arts.

There will be additional performances scheduled for March 23, 25 and 27, 2022
