Lucas Meachem is set to replace Mariusz Kwiecien in “The Pearl Fishers” at the Bilbao Opera.

Platea Magazine broke the news noting that Meachem would be stepping in for Kwiecien, who was last seen at the Metropolitan Opera in the role of Zurga in the same opera. However, during that fall run, the Polish baritone canceled midway. He was also slated for the same opera at the Houston Grand Opera but also canceled.

Meachem performed the role of Zurga at the Florida Grand Opera and is currently at the Canadian Opera Company performing the role of Marcello. He is slated to sing “The Pearl Fishers” in Dortmund and will end his summer season in Napa Valley.

Meachem will join Javier Camarena and Maria José Moreno in the production by Pier Luigi  Pizzi with Francesco Ivan Ciampa conducting.

Performances are set for May 18 through 27, 2019.
