
Louise Alder, Ian Bostridge, Wallis Giunta, Dorothea Röschmann Headline Leeds Lieder Festival 2022
By David SalazarThe Leeds Lieder Festival has announced its 2022 slate which kicks off on April 28, 2022 and runs through May 1.
Mezzo-soprano Shakira Tsindos, baritone Dominic Sedgwick, and pianist Ian Tindale will present Dove’s song cycle “Man, Woman, Child” as well as music by Frank Bridge, Gerald Finzi, Rebecca Clarke, and Roger Quilt, among others.

Dorothea Röschmann and pianist Joseph Middleton will take on music by Mahler, Schumann, Wolf, and Wagner.

Wallis Giunta will join forces with Adam Walker and Sean Shibe for “The Revolution Smells of Jasmine.” The concert will feature music by Piazzolla, Ariel Ramirez, Joni Mitchell, Violeta Parra, Joan Baez, and Abel Meeropol.

Jess Dandy and pianist Martin Roscoe will perform music by Amy Beach, Lili Boulanger, de Falla, Wolf, and Tchaikovsky.

There will be a young artists showcase with Members of the 2022 Young Artists Programme.

Robin Tritschler and pianist Christopher Glynn will take on music by Britten, Croft, Purcell, Schubert, Debussy, Fauré, Hahn, Brahms, and Liza Lehmann, among others.

Ruby Hughes and pianist Joseph Middleton will perform the music of Deborah Pritchard, Errollyn Wallen, and Mahler’s “Der Abschied” from “Das Lied von der Erde.”

Helen Charlston and pianist Ilan Kurster will take on music by Brahms, Shostakovich, Copland, Brahms, Schumann, Borin, Tchaikvosky, and Clara Schumann, among others.

Anna Lapwood will lead Bring and Sing! in a performance featuring English Coronation Anthems by Händel, Wesley, Mozart, Elgar, and Parry.

Louise Alder will close out the season alongside pianist Joseph Middleton in a recital featuring music by Nadia Boulanger, Fauré, Mahler, and Copland, among others.

There will also be pre-concert talks with Richard Stokes, Jonathan Dove, Deborah Pritchard, Dr. George Kennaway, and Dr. Katy Hamilton. There will also be masterclasses with Ann Murray, Dorothea Röschmann, Graham Johnson OBE, and Joan Rodgers CBE.
