Louise Alder, Gerald Finley, Carolina López Moreno, Erin Morley, Golda Schultz & Aigul Akhmetshina Lead BBC Proms’ 2025 Season

The BBC Proms has announced its 2025 season. Here is a list of the vocal performances.

Sakari Oramo conducts the First Night of the Proms with soloists Lisa Batiashvili, Caspar Singh, and Gerald Finley. The program includes music by Arthur Bliss, Felix Mendelssohn, Jean Sibelius, Errollyn Wallen, and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Performance Date: July 18, 2025


Tenor Allan Clayton gives the world premiere of Tom Coult’s “Monologues for the Curious,” while John Storgårds and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra lead Mahler’s Seventh Symphony.

Performance Date: July 21, 2025


The Ensemble intercontemporain celebrates 100 years since the birth of two 20th-century modernist icons, performing Pierre Boulez’s “Dialogue de l’ombre double” alongside Luciano Berio’s Recital I and Sequenza V. Sarah Aristidou is the soloist.

Performance Date: July 23, 2025


Dinis Sousa and the Royal Northern Sinfonia present Mendelssohn’s Second Symphony with soloist Adèle Charvet and Benjamin Hulett. The program also includes David Fray performing Bach’s D minor Keyboard Concerto.

Guitar dynamo Sean Shibe is joined by a group of starry musical friends to celebrate the anniversary of composer Boulez’s seminal “Le marteau sans maître,” given alongside a new work by Pulitzer Prize-winner Tyshawn Sorey and Cassandra Miller. Ema Nikolovska is one of the soloist.

Tõnu Kaljuste and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir celebrate the 90th birthday of Arvo Pärt. The concert also includes Galina Grigorjeva, Sergey Rachmaninov, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Yunchan Lim returns to the Proms to perform Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with Kazuki Yamada and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The BBC Singers also perform in a program that includes John Adams and Berio.

Anna-Maria Helsing and the BBC Concert Orchestra celebrate Johann Strauss II with Erin Morley.

Performance Date: August 2, 2025


Principal Conductor Kahchun Wong conducts Mahler’s ‘Resurrection’ Symphony, featuring Norwegian soprano Mari Eriksmoen and Canadian mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo as soloists.

Hannu Lintu conducts Pierre Boulez’s “Rituel in memoriam Bruno Maderna” and Gustav Mahler’s “Das klagende Lied.” Natalya Romaniw, Jennifer Johnston, Russell Thomas, and James Newby perform.

Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra perform Bartók’s “Bluebeard’s Castle” alongside Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Dorottya Láng and Krisztián Cser perform in the Bartók.

Josep Pons conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Singers in Bartók’s “The Miraculous Mandarin,” and Italian pianist Beatrice Rana is soloist in Rachmaninov’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.” Paul Dukas’ “La Péri – Poème dansé” is also on the program.

Edward Gardner conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme of 20th-century pieces including Debussy’s “La mer,” Sibelius’s “The Oceanides,” and Ravel’s song-cycle “Shéhérazade.” Aigul Akhmetshina is the soloist.

Performance Date: August 10, 2025


Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 is performed by the forces of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Orchestre National de Bretagne, CBSO Children’s Chorus, Welsh National Opera Chorus, and National Chorus of Wales, with mezzo-soprano soloist Beth Taylor. Ryan Bancroft conducts.

Joe Hisaishi makes his Proms debut conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in his own “The End of the World,” alongside Steve Reich’s “The Desert Music.” John Holiday is the soloist.

Ryan Bancroft conducts the BBC National Chorus of Wales, Synergy Vocals, and BBC National Orchestra of Wales in music by  Sofia Gubaidulina, Maurice Ravel, and Dmitry Shostakovich. Pianist Benjamin Grosvenor is the soloist.

Sir Mark Elder conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra in Delius’s “A Mass for Life” with soloists Jennifer Davis, Claudia Huckle, David Butt Philip, and Roderick Williams.

Performance Date: August 18, 2025


Sir Antonio Pappano and the London Symphony Orchestra lead Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” and Strauss’ “Die Frau ohne Schatten” fantasy. Carolina López Moreno, Kseniia Nikolaieva, Elena Zilio, Angela Schisano, Sarah Dufresne, and Monika-Evelin Liiv perform in Puccini’s work.

Clara Cecilie Thomsen, Jasmin White, Issachah Savage, and Adam Pałka lead Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Fabio Luisi conducts the program that includes music by Bent Sørensen and Anna Clyne

Dalia Stasevska conducts Joshua Bell and Francesca Chiejina in a program of music by Bach, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, and Thomas de Hartmann.

Performance Date: August 22, 2025


The Danish National Vocal Ensemble presents works by Ethel Smyth, Paola Prestini and Dane Carl Nielsen. The program also includes music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Uroš Krek, Alma Mahler-Werfel, and Gustav Mahler. Martina Batič conducts.

Carlo Rizzi and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera perform works by Italian composers Respighi, Verdi, Rossini and Puccini. Avery Amereau is the soloist.

Performance Date: August 25, 2025


Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” will star Tommaso Barea, Johanna Wallroth, Huw Montague Rendall, Louise Alder, Alessandro Corbelli, and Adèle Charvet. Riccardo Minasi conducts the production by Talia Stern.

Performance Date: August 27, 2025


Handel’s “Alexander’s Feast” will star Hilary Cronin, Hugh Cutting, and Stuart Jackson. Peter Whelan conducts.

Performance Date: August 30, 2025


Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District” will be performed in English and will star Amanda Majeski, Brindley Sherratt, John Findon, Thomas Mole, Nicky Spence, Ava Dodd, Ronald Samm, Alaric Green, Chuma Sijeqa, William Morgan, Sir Willard White, and Niamh O’Sullivan. John Storgårds conducts.

South African soprano Golda Schultz returns to the Proms with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, performing songs by Bernstein, Korngold, Gershwin, Weill, and others. Robin Ticciati conducts works by Schreker and Stravinsky.

Performance Date: Sept. 6, 2025


Sakari Oramo conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a program that includes music by Bliss, Grieg, and Ruth Gipps. Elizabeth Watts and Laurence Kilsby are the soloists, as well as pianist Lukas Sternath.

Performance Date: Sept. 7, 2025


Ilan Volkov conducts Brahms, Stravinsky, and Gabrieli. Jess Dandy and Ashley Riches are the soloists.

Performance Date: Sept. 11, 2025


Elim Chan will conduct the Last Night of the Proms with Louise Alder and Alison Balsom. The program includes music by Mussorgsky, Hummel, Benjamin, Lehár, Gound, Pépin, Dukas, Shostakovich, Portman, Arne, and Elgar, among others.
