The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced a cast change for Verdi’s Requiem on July 11, 2023.

The company said that Leah Hawkins will sing the soprano role, replacing Angel Blue.

Hawkins added on her social media, “When your instincts tell you to pack a score, PACK it ! (It’s time for me get an iPad, I’ve fought long enough…. *eyeroll* #notatechie). I am excited to jump in and make my @LAPhil / @HollywoodBowl debut in one of my favorite works, Verdi’s Messa di Requiem, conducted by @GustavoDudamel! If you’re in LA come out on July 11 at 8pm!”

Hawkins is currently at the Santa Fe Opera performing Puccini’s “Tosca” and is set to return to the Metropolitan Opera during the 2023-24 season for Verdi’s Requiem and “X, The Life and Times of Malcolm X.”

Hawkins joins a cast that includes Rihab Chaieb, Mario Chang, and Ryan Speedo Green. Gustavo Dudamel conducts the work at the Hollywood Bowl.
