Los Angeles Opera Releases Statement Following Shooting in Monterrey Park

The Los Angeles Opera has released a statement following the mass shooting in Monterrey Park, California.

The company said, “our hearts are heavy hearing the news of the shooting in Monterey Park. We send our condolences to the victims, their families, and their loved ones.”

The statement by Los Angeles Opera comes as a gunman shot and killed 10 people. According to reports the shooting happened about an hour after thousands of people had been in the area for the first day of a two-day Lunar New Year festival. Most of the crowds had already left the area.

The man who opened fire was identified as Huu Can Tran, who was found dead inside a white cargo van after a standoff with police in Torrance, California.
